Thomas Hart is an Industrial Design graduate from OCAD University. His focus is on small batch productions or one-of-a-kind custom work in the areas of home decor, lighting, furniture, leatherwork, and household objects. Thomas has a modern aesthetic that incorporates natural materials and unique forms. Sustainability is always at the forefront of his designs and he loves to blend new and found objects into his work. There is a definite handmade feel to most of Thomas's work and most of all, he loves to create things that are interesting to look at, intuitive to use, durable and long lasting, friendly to the environment and different than you'd find elsewhere.

KARCASS is a furniture design and makers duo from Toronto. Since 2012, we have been designing and making custom handcrafted, furniture and interior design pieces that reflect our belief in sustainable design and living.

Our work is the very definition of upcycling; all our materials are salvaged and locally sourced. We aim to make pieces that reflect Toronto – a sometimes raw city with hidden natural gems that just need a little effort to explore and discover.

Besides our commitment to making quality furniture and interior design pieces, we take particular care in our materials. The wood in all our pieces is salvaged from downtown Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area and rural Southern Ontario. Most often, we discover good quality maple, hemlock, fir, pine and walnut wood that we then use to create furniture that will last.

The metal elements of our pieces are found frames and pipes that are welded into the raw features of our designs. We often use environmentally conscious, sealants and locally-sourced beeswax and oils to enhance and finish the wooden elements of all our pieces.
